BEEN BUSY!!!
I've been busy. I've read 2 books including the latest Harry Potter. Some parts I liked, some I thought needed some more attention. But it was a good book. I'm looking forward to seeing what else J.K. Rowling can come up with. Not that she needs to write one more word. She's set for life.
I've been appliqueing more of the circles for my Bountiful quilt that I started last year. My husband is soooo tired of seeing circles, he actually asked me to start something else. So I did. I now have the squares cut out to make a tote bag for a relative for Christmas.
I've stopped cross stitching for awhile. The Scarecrow Cutie that I started needs to be picked out. I realized I need to the follow the colored chart instead of a black & white copy I made. I missed all of the quarter stitches. I'm not thrilled with color of fabric I chose to stitch this on either so I may found a different color. In the mean time I did start a new cross stitch project, Virtue Baskets.
I haven't finished any of the projects that I finished stitching yet. They are next on the list. Hopefully this weekend I may get some done.

3 MORE FINISHES & A START
This week I was able to finish three items. 2 were WIPS and 1 was a recent start and I also started a new project.
The first finish was the Victorian Hearts cross stitch. There were a lot of color changes in these. But they look nice now that they are done. Of course I still have to make them into hearts but the stitching is done.
The second finish is the tartan thistle bookmark I purchased from England late last year. This one I'm not to happy with. I may make another an change some to stitches on the tartan squares. When you do the backstitching, the long stitches get all messed up.
And lastly I finished a plastic canvas pincushion I had started years ago. It only took about an hour. Just have to add some lace to it later this week. No pictures of these finished yet, hopefully by the end of the week.
I started Scarecrow Sweetie. Having a bit of trouble because the fabric I chose to use is so close to floss colors I'm having a hard time seeing. I hoping when the detailing is done the apron on her will pop.

Another Finish!!!
This is a free design from Cyberstitchers, Babara Ana. I love the designs Barbara makes. This is the 3rd one I've stitched of hers. I've also stitched Tea and Flip Flop Summer. Here's the link where you can found her designs: http://www.cyberstitchers.com/Home.asp

Another Hornbook Stitcher

This one is done following the pattern., using just 3 colors of DMC. I stitched this one on 28 count linen, over 2. First time I stitched on linen. I found you need very good lighting. I do love the results and will be stitching on linen again in the future. I believe I will be making this into a pinkeep. Sorry for the blurry pictures. I must need new batteries in the camera.
HORNBOOK STITCHER

When I first saw this pattern I thought it would be a cute bookmark. This one is stitched on 22 count Aida using 498 DMC, all one color. I will finish it later this week. I'll be making a few more these, very fast to stitch. I worked on for 3 days. You can find the free pattern here:

SBQ QUESTION OF THE WEEK!!!

Which project (finished or in progress) are you most proud of? Explain why.
I'm most proud of my Kitchen Alphabet because it was the first project I made without using a kit. I had never had to kit up a project before that one. I over bought all the floss I needed and the fabric. But I'm slowing using up both since I've been making my own kits since then.

My second most proudest is The Hornbook Stitcher I just recently finished. My first project done on linen. Can't wait to try some more.

I'm new to SBQ. I've enjoyed reading everyone's answers so much.... I wanted to get in on the fun. So here it goes....

Today’s SBQ was lifted from a couple of threads over on The Wagon and is:
What do you love to do that many people hate? What do you hate to do, but do anyway?

I too love to do the backstitching on projects. For two reasons....one the backstitching adds the detail to many designs and makes the design pop out at you. And two, I know I'm almost done with that project and can start another.

I really do hate cutting fabric....but I do it. Not only for cross stitch but also for my quilting & sewing projects.

NEW MOVIE SEASON
The new movie season is upon us once again. So far I've seen Ratatouille. This was alright. Don't watch it if you haven't eaten. You'll leave starving. There are rats in this movie!!! I also have seen Transformers. I really liked this movie. My husband was surprised I even wanted to see. I liked it more than he did. And he's a comic freak (sorry Honey I had to say it)!!! On Wednesday we are going to see the new Harry Potter: Order Of The Phoenix movie, can't wait!!! Big Harry fan here.
Quilting

I also quilt. Haven't been doing this long. But I love it also. The top picture is a paper pieced miniature quilt I started years ago. I named it Forever because it took forever but also because of the red, white, blue theme...may she wave forever. It is machine pieced and hand quilted.
The other is Passion Spools. Another paper pieced pattern I found on the web (can't remember where). Machine pieced and hand quilted. I have some projects that are not finished. I'll get pictures up of those soon.
CROCHET

I've been crocheting for over 20 years. I've made many items for myself and others over the years. My favorite things to crochet are bookmarks, sachets, pincushions and scrap afghans.

This is a baby afghan I made for a friend at work last year. I've made many of these for friends and family. The pattern is from Annie's Pattern Club Newsletter No. 34 (Aug.-Sept. 1985). I have a huge collection of Annie Attic's publications. I still go through them all and find things to make.

Pictures Of Stash!!!!!

As promised here are the pictures of the stash I bought last week with Jess.
All these kits cost $1 each. I could have bought more but I have so much now, I stopped myself!

These leaflets cost me full price. But I figured I bought most of my stuff from the discount bins...I could splurge!!!!

All of these leaflets cost me just $18.50. The Christmas Quickies book was just $2.50.
I bought more stash today when I finally got to Joann's. I'll post pictures of that stash soon.

NEW STASH!!!!

Today Jess (my daughter) & I went to the new Joann's Fabric Superstore opening in 2 towns away from me. However, when we got there....they couldn't open because of a few missing signatures needed by the town council. So I got a 40% off coupon to use when I go back with my husband on Thursday.

We then proceeded to Michael's & A.C. Moores in the same town. Got a lot of stash. Most of it coming from the discount bins. We then went to Joann's in a different town all because Jess needed one black button for a knitted bag she made. I'll post a pic tomorrow...too dark to take one now.

This is one of my current WIPS in cross stitch. I do have one other WIP in cross stitch but don't have a picture of that yet.

This is a kit from Design Works called Calendar Cats. The story behind this is kinda funny to me.

I saw this kit in a needlecraft store called Hook 'N Needle in Westport, CT when my daughter was young (she's now 23). We both thought it was cute. Well I didn't buy it then. But always wished I had. So I began looking for it at all the needlecraft shops I ever went to. Years went by, couldn't find it. Then along came the web....I did a search one day and finally found it. Ordered it from some site in England. Can't remember what I paid, but it didn't matter......had to have it!!!

Years have gone by and I'm still working on it. Just the other day my husband says to me "Why are you sewing something with cats on it? You don't even like cats that much." (This is true, I like dogs better). I said "But look at them. They're cute. I especially like the one dressed up like a doggie."

As you can see I'm almost done with the cross stitch. I have one and half more cats to do then the banner on top. Then on to the backstitching. I don't mind doing the backstitching because it makes the pictures pop out at you. I usually start from the top and work my way down on a project when I'm backstitching.

I'll keep posting my progress now that I know what I'm doing!!!

First post

This is my first blog and my first post. I'm hoping this will be a place that other people will enjoy visiting. I'll be learning as I go so bear with me. So far this is pretty simple. I'm sure that will change as time goes on.
