I'M BACK!!!!!!

I'm going to try to blog at least once a week. This is my over the New Year's resolution that I've just made to myself.

As you can see, I've changed the name and look of my blog. I like this very much. I enjoy just looking at it. Hopefully I will keep my resolution.

I've been cross stitching, crocheting, and sewing. I finally finished the top of the Circle quilt. I hope my SIL is still willing to quilt it for me. This quilt weighs a ton already.

Got a new camera for Christmas. So new photos should be coming (hopefully). I probably should call this blog Hopeful Scraps from my needle!!

Update on ME

What has been going on since January? Well, let's see if I can remember.

The yellow & green baby afghan was finished and given to a family member.
I finished Calendar Cats finally after years.
I made another baby afghan (which I have no picture of because of the lightning).
I've made about 10 bookmarks for my collection, both in crochet & cross stitch.
I started making biscornus.
I'll try to get pics of those soon.

Still working on the Circle Quilt (the bountiful Quilt). Almost finished with the appliquing of the diamond shapes. My SIL said she would quilt it for me because I'm just learning how to machine quilt on new machine. Never did it before.

My SIL gave me a complete Dresden plate wall size quilt, ready to sew together. Everything is cut out (my least favorite thing to do). I haven't started that yet. I'm hoping soon.

I've read about a zillion books. See my sidebar for all the titles I've read since the beginning of the year.

And finally, I'm going back to Disney with my DD & her DF. The first week of Dec. for Christmas in WDW. Staying at the Polyensian this time. I'm afraid we are going to get spoiled staying right on the monorail line.

I've Lapsed Again!!!!

I was going to be good. Try to post more often. But then life got in the way. I should say blog reading got in the way. And finding free patterns online. Then a lightning storm which took our air conditioner, surround sound and computer. So here I sit at a new one, making a promise to myself that I'll post more. No guarantees here, I'm just going to try.

We Went To Walt Disney World!!!

We were there the first week of December. WDW was decorated for Christmas. A great time of the year to go. This time however the weather was very hot & humid. We pick this week because it is usually cooler (sometimes COLD) but not this week. We had a wonderful time just the same. We stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort. This picture was taken in Epcot. Can't wait to go back!!!

Keeping My Promise

Here's a picture of my Circle Quilt. This is just one strip. I didn't sew anything on it today. I'll sew some strips together tomorrow night after work.

Today I started crocheting a baby blanket for a friend at work whose wife is pregnant. She's due in February....So I thought I should get going on it. So it was off to A.C. Moore's. Not my husband's favorite place...but he went. I got the yarn I needed and a quilting magazine for me!!! Had some money on a gift card still so it only cost us $10. Not bad. Here's a picture of the blanket so far!!

WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

It is now 2008. I haven't posted since August of 2007. What happened? Let me tell you.

I started working on my Circle Quilt again. I'm still working on my Circle Quilt. I've made great strides in getting this done. All the circles are sewn together and onto the background squares. All the squares are sewn together into rows. I'm working on appliquing on the curved squares. I'll try to get some pics soon. We can't find our digital camera. I haven't figured out how to use the new one yet.

I've been reading a lot also. See the book list for 2007!!

We went to Disney World in Florida in December. (This is where the camera went. I think it may still be in Rich's suitcase). Then it was Christmas. So that's why I haven't blogged since August.

I'm going to try to keep up with this because I enjoy reading everyone else's blogs. Let's hope I can do it.

BEEN BUSY!!!

I've been busy. I've read 2 books including the latest Harry Potter. Some parts I liked, some I thought needed some more attention. But it was a good book. I'm looking forward to seeing what else J.K. Rowling can come up with. Not that she needs to write one more word. She's set for life.

I've been appliqueing more of the circles for my Bountiful quilt that I started last year. My husband is soooo tired of seeing circles, he actually asked me to start something else. So I did. I now have the squares cut out to make a tote bag for a relative for Christmas.

I've stopped cross stitching for awhile. The Scarecrow Cutie that I started needs to be picked out. I realized I need to the follow the colored chart instead of a black & white copy I made. I missed all of the quarter stitches. I'm not thrilled with color of fabric I chose to stitch this on either so I may found a different color. In the mean time I did start a new cross stitch project, Virtue Baskets.

I haven't finished any of the projects that I finished stitching yet. They are next on the list. Hopefully this weekend I may get some done.

3 MORE FINISHES & A START

This week I was able to finish three items. 2 were WIPS and 1 was a recent start and I also started a new project.

The first finish was the Victorian Hearts cross stitch. There were a lot of color changes in these. But they look nice now that they are done. Of course I still have to make them into hearts but the stitching is done.

The second finish is the tartan thistle bookmark I purchased from England late last year. This one I'm not to happy with. I may make another an change some to stitches on the tartan squares. When you do the backstitching, the long stitches get all messed up.

And lastly I finished a plastic canvas pincushion I had started years ago. It only took about an hour. Just have to add some lace to it later this week. No pictures of these finished yet, hopefully by the end of the week.

I started Scarecrow Sweetie. Having a bit of trouble because the fabric I chose to use is so close to floss colors I'm having a hard time seeing. I hoping when the detailing is done the apron on her will pop.
